From hit and miss to reliable
Over four weekly sessions you’ll learn how a good prompt is put together, the techniques that make results more reliable, patterns for harder tasks, and how to prompt for images. You practise on real tasks from your own job, rewrite weak prompts into strong ones, and leave with a personal prompt library a colleague could pick up and use.
Who it is for
Non-technical professionals who already use AI tools now and then, but get answers that are generic, inconsistent or not quite what they needed. It’s also the recommended starting point before the Agents & Automation module.
How it runs
Live and taught by a real trainer on Microsoft Teams, on Wednesdays from 9:00 to about 15:05, in groups of up to 12. Plus 75 to 120 minutes of directed study a week, and a short handout the day before each session.
- Build any prompt from four simple building blocks
- Improve a prompt with clarity, context, precision and persona
- Use advanced patterns for harder tasks and decisions, and make AI argue back
- Write image prompts that give you what you pictured
- Build a personal prompt library that a colleague could pick up and use
Four sessions, one skill at a time
Each session is hands-on, with worked examples, a live lab on your own work, and one thing to try at work before the next session.
The Anatomy of a Prompt
The four building blocks, the six-step loop, and rebuilding your own weakest prompt.
Best Practice & Core Techniques
Clarity, context, precision and persona, plus when to show an example instead of explaining.
Advanced Prompting Patterns
Interview, chain of thought, tree of thought, and adversarial review for decisions that matter.
Image Prompts & Your Prompt Library
Five image techniques, and pulling your best prompts into a library someone else could use.

Good to know
Do I need any technical background?
No. If you’re comfortable with email, browsing the web and word processing, you have enough to begin. It helps if you’ve tried an AI chat tool at least a few times.
When and where does it run?
The next run starts in February 2027, on Wednesdays on Microsoft Teams, from 9:00 to about 15:05 with breaks and lunch. Exact dates are confirmed when you book.
How is this different from the full programme?
It’s Block B of the 18-session AI & Generative AI Practitioner Programme, offered on its own. You join the programme group for these four sessions. If you carry on to the full programme later, what you’ve paid counts towards it.
What could I do next?
Many people go on to the two-week Agents & Automation live module, which next runs in April 2027 and builds on what you learn here.
Do I need to pay for any AI tools?
No. Every exercise uses free versions of the tools, runs in a web browser and doesn’t need a credit card.
Will I have to put work information into AI tools?
No. Nothing confidential, personal or client-related goes into any tool. Where an exercise uses your own work, you anonymise it first, and we show you how.
Do I get a certificate?
Standalone modules don’t come with a certificate. If you go on to the full AI & Generative AI Practitioner Programme, the module counts towards it, and you get the programme certificate when you complete it.
What if I need to cancel?
You can cancel for a full refund up to 14 days before the module starts, or within 14 days of booking, whichever gives you longer. If you need to cancel after that, get in touch and we’ll talk it through.
