Practical AI skills, taught live, built for real work
This is a hands-on practitioner programme for a mixed, non-technical cohort. No coding, no jargon for its own sake. Over eighteen live sessions, learners move from understanding what generative AI is to putting it to work safely, and making a costed case for it in their own organisation.
Who it is for
Professionals and teams who want to use AI well at work, with no technical background needed. Individuals can join an open cohort, or an employer can run the whole programme in-house for up to twelve people.
How it runs
Live and instructor-led on Microsoft Teams, with eighteen five-hour sessions, either once a week on Wednesdays (18 weeks) or twice a week on Mondays and Thursdays (9 weeks), plus 75 to 120 minutes of directed study between sessions. Small enough to stay hands-on, with a workbook, activities and feedback throughout.
- Choose the right AI tool for a task and get reliable, repeatable results
- Write clear, effective prompts and build a reusable prompt library
- Use Microsoft Copilot across M365, and set it up safely
- Judge use cases against UK privacy, copyright and disclosure rules
- Build simple agent-based automations for everyday tasks
- Make a costed, evidence-based business case for AI at work
Covers every Skills England AI foundation skill
The programme maps in full to Skills England's AI Foundation Skills for Work benchmark, across all three domains, technical, non-technical, and responsible and ethical, and takes learners well beyond foundation level to a genuine practitioner standard.
Six blocks across eighteen sessions
Each block builds on the last, with three checkpoint assessments along the way. It all leads to a final project, where you take a real problem from your own job, use AI to tackle it and present a fully costed recommendation.
Foundations
The AI landscape, the generative AI toolscape, how the models work, and the 2026 foundation-model picture.
Prompting Craft
The anatomy of a prompt, core and advanced techniques, multimodal prompting, and building your prompt library.
Microsoft Copilot & M365
Copilot across Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams, and how to extend and govern it safely.
Risk & Governance
Hallucination and grounding, bias, privacy, copyright and the law, and responsible AI in practice.
Agents & Automation
From chat to agents, and building your own personal AI operating system for real tasks.
Business Value & Career
The business case, careers and your showcase, then final project presentations, assessment and next steps.
One price covers the whole programme
Every place includes all eighteen sessions, the workbook, the final project and the certificate. Take a place individually, in a value tier, or run the whole programme in-house.
Next cohort starts January 2027. Get in touch to reserve a place, or to ask about an in-house start date for your team.
The whole programme delivered for one employer, up to 12 learners, plus £1,200 per additional learner.
A single block on its own: Prompting Craft or Agents & Automation, credited toward the full programme on upgrade.
Team and volume discounts: two places 5% off, three or four 10% off, five or more 15% off. Ask us about spreading the cost, or whether a funded Skills Bootcamp place is available. Prices are per learner unless stated, and are a guide; final quotes reflect cohort size, start dates and any tailoring.
Good to know
Do I need any technical background?
No. The programme starts from no prior knowledge and is built for people who aren't technical. If you're comfortable with email, browsing the web, word processing and saving files, you have enough to begin. The sessions are taught in English, so you'll need to be fairly confident reading and writing it, and you'll need a laptop or tablet with a modern browser. If you don't have one, let us know and we can lend you one.
I already use ChatGPT. Will this be too basic for me?
Probably not. The first few sessions make sure everyone starts from the same place, but from Session 5 you're building your own prompt library, then using Copilot properly, writing an AI use policy for your organisation, building simple agents and making a costed business case. That goes well past the basics. If you're already confident, tell us when you enquire and we'll talk through whether the full programme or a single block suits you better.
When are the sessions, and how much time does it take?
There are two timetables. Weekly cohorts meet on Wednesdays for 18 weeks. Twice-weekly cohorts meet on Mondays and Thursdays for 9 weeks, which suits people who can give it more time over a shorter period. Either way, sessions run on Microsoft Teams from 9:00 to about 15:05 with breaks and lunch, and your dates are confirmed when you book. On top of that, there's 75 to 120 minutes of directed study between sessions in your own time, a bit more near the end when you're finishing your final project. On the twice-weekly timetable that study time falls within a few days, so it's worth booking it in your diary.
How big are the groups?
Up to 12 people per group, so there's time for everyone in the labs and discussions, and your trainer gets to know your work.
Is it really live, or recorded?
It's live and taught by a real trainer online, so you can ask questions as you go and work through the activities together. There are no pre-recorded videos with someone reading out slides. Sessions can also be recorded on the Complete and Premium tiers, so you can go back over them.
Is it all slides and talking?
No. About a third of each day is taught input. The rest is a hands-on lab, a group workshop and discussion, where you work on real tasks and see what works and what doesn't. Each day finishes with a recap and a short exit ticket, so we can see straight away if anything needs going over again.
Who teaches it?
The programme is led by Michael Ahmed, who set up Flowline Robotics. Michael spent around twenty years as a business analyst and process specialist in financial services, central government, utilities and B2B companies, so the course is built around how work really gets done, not around the technology for its own sake.
How do you keep the content up to date?
AI changes quickly, so we review the material before every cohort. Every statistic we use comes with its source and date, and we test each tool the week before it's used. If a free tool has changed or stopped working, we change the session rather than teach you something out of date.
Is it tied to one company's tools?
No. You'll use several AI assistants, including ChatGPT, Claude, Google Gemini and NotebookLM, so you learn to pick the right tool for the job rather than one brand. There are two sessions on Microsoft Copilot because most UK workplaces run Microsoft 365, not because we're tied to Microsoft.
Do I need to pay for any AI tools?
No. All of the labs use free versions of the tools, run in a web browser and don't need a credit card. In Session 1 you set up free accounts with at least two AI assistants, so check with your employer first if you need their permission.
Do I need a Microsoft Copilot licence?
No. You don't need your own Copilot licence. In the Copilot sessions we demonstrate Microsoft 365 Copilot and you practise with free tools. If your employer already has Copilot, you're welcome to use your own.
Will I have to put work information into AI tools?
No. Nothing confidential, personal or client-related goes into any tool during the programme, at any point. Where an exercise uses your own work, you anonymise it first, and we show you how. It's one of the first things we cover, because it's one of the easiest mistakes to make at work.
How am I assessed, and what do I need to pass?
There are three short checkpoint assessments along the way, a final project and a final written assessment, all marked by your trainer with written feedback. To pass, you need to attend at least 15 of the 18 sessions, attempt all three checkpoints and score 60% or more in both the final project and the final assessment. 80% or more gets you a Distinction. The checkpoints are there to spot who needs extra help, not to catch anyone out. If you score under 50%, you get a one-to-one with your trainer before the next session. You get feedback on your final project draft within 72 hours, and you can resubmit once if it doesn't meet the standard first time.
What if I miss a session?
It happens. You need to attend at least 15 of the 18 sessions to complete the programme. The workbook covers every session, and recordings are included on the Complete and Premium tiers. Let us know and we'll help you catch up before the next session.
What do I come away with?
A Certificate of Completion and a programme record, a completed project tackling a real problem from your own job, with a fully costed recommendation, and a set of practical skills you can use straight away at work.
Is the certificate an accredited qualification?
It's a Flowline Robotics Certificate of Completion with a full programme record. It isn't a regulated qualification. The programme maps in full to Skills England's AI Foundation Skills for Work benchmark, and in the final block we help you choose a recognised certification to go for next, if you want one.
Can you support accessibility needs?
Yes. Let us know when you enrol, or at any point during the programme. We regularly provide extra time in written assessments, materials in advance or in other formats, the option to present to the trainer alone instead of the whole group, and support for assistive technology. Asking for an adjustment never affects your grade.
What can I do after the programme?
The last block covers your next steps: AI roles that are open to people without a technical background, which certifications are worth going for, and how to show what you've done. The Premium tier adds mentoring or a follow-up clinic after the programme.
Can my employer run this for a whole team?
Yes. The in-house option delivers the full programme for one employer, tailored where useful, for up to twelve learners with more added at a per-learner rate.
Is funding available?
We're working towards running this as a funded Skills Bootcamp. Funded places are free for individuals, and employers training their own staff pay 10% (fewer than 250 staff) or 30% (250 or more). Ask us whether a funded place is available.
Can I spread the cost?
Yes, ask us about spreading the cost when you enquire and we'll talk through the options.
What if I need to cancel?
You can cancel for a full refund up to 14 days before the programme starts, or within 14 days of booking, whichever gives you longer. If you need to cancel after that, get in touch and we'll talk it through.
Ready to talk about a place or a cohort?
Tell us a little about you or your team and what you want to get out of AI, and we will come back with the right option, dates and a quote.
